Now Showing: Post-Revolutionary Era

Think of Firecracker TV as your personal home cinema for Asian movies, showing an (ever-increasing!) number of films at a time that suits you. It's streaming, so there's no waiting for downloads or waiting impatiently for a DVD in the post.

First off, we have Chinese indie documentary POST-REVOLUTIONARY ERA, which
explores the underground world of the Beijing rock scene, filmmaker Zhang Yang focuses on the communities who live for their music and the reaction of the older generation to an unfamiliar phenomenon, withconcert footage confirming the spirit of Glastonbury is alive and kicking in China.

Benjamin McKay at Senses of Cinema said of the film, "There is perhaps no more unrelentingly harsh, tawdry or unforgiving a place than post-socialist China. Director Zhang Yang took us on a 100-minute ride into the punk, thrash, metal and hardcore nihilist world of Beijing’s fringe dwelling music scene in his provocative and energetic music documentary POST-REVOLUTIONARY ERA"

Catch it now! Worth 2 credits.

Welcome to the Firecracker Blog!

For the most up-to-date news on what's coming up on Firecracker TV and your chance to give us feedback on the types of films you would like to see on our growing channel, here is our blog.

It's also a chance for some of our contributors to do what they do best: Write. A lot. And better still, it's all about movies. From all over Asia. All genres. Lost gems and the newest releases.

But, rather than having a single voice spouting forth their views on the yet-to-be-discovered post-nuclear apocalyptic Japanese B-movie to take their fancy or the latest wuxia period martial arts piece to catch their eye, we have not just one but five Firecracker bloggers for you to follow. So take five and see where they take you - who knows, we may end up showing those films too.....
